Learn Korean in Daejeon: Hannam University



Welcome to our third featured Korean Language Program option! Hannam University is located in Daejeon, very close to the city bus terminal which means the campus is highly accessible for students coming from Seoul or Incheon airport.


While Daejeon is less popular compared to Seoul or Busan, it doesn't mean it's not a good study destination. Situated right in the center of South Korea, Daejeon is home to several top universities, such as KAIST, Woosung University, Hanbat University, and, of course, Hannam University.


If you're looking to learn the Korean language in Daejeon, Hannam University is the perfect option. It's huge campus and the availability of various international programs attract many different international students each year. Not only that, Daejeon, often referred to as the "Silicon Valley of South Korea," is renowned for its cutting-edge technology, world-class research institutions, and bustling city life with a different authenticity from big cities like Seoul or Busan.

Curriculum Outline

Level 1

  • Hangeul Vowels and Consonants

  • Application of sentence structure and syntax

  • Basic conversational Korean skills (greetings, self-introduction, purchasing goods, ordering food, etc.)

Level 2

  • Formal, informal and indirect speech

  • Conversations on familiar topics such as family and friends

  • Vocabulary on the topics of postal service, transportation and phone communication

  • Conventional Korean culture

Level 3

  • Communication skills for adaptation to life in Korea

  • Expressing opinions and ideas through speeches and role-play

  • Structuring paragraphs and the relatively complex context of conversations

  • Conveying personal ideas through prose composition

Level 4

  • Sino-Korean vocabulary

  • Understanding Korean culture and way of thinking through linguistics

  • Expressing opinions on topics about economy, science and society

Level 5~6

  • Formal settings conversations and article reading

  • Higher level academic setting language learning

  • Forming logical and extensive opinions on academic and professional discourses in arts, humanities and social sciences topics

Requirements

  • High School or Grade 12 graduates (or equivalent)

  • Bank Balance Statement, in the amount of 10,000 USD min.

  • Administrative documents like passport, birth certificate, and ID.
